Ghana’s smartphone market has evolved into a six-way contest for dominance, with each brand fighting for visibility, value, and innovation. According to StatCounter data from September 2025, Samsung continues to lead the charge with 26.16 percent market share, while Apple follows at 20.44 percent, sustained by its premium image and loyal base of users.
The real disruptor in this story is TECNO, holding 16.38 percent of the market. Once seen as a budget alternative, TECNO’s rise reflects its ability to deliver performance and design that resonate with Ghanaian consumers seeking quality at affordable prices.
In the mid-tier competition, Infinix (9.78 percent), Huawei (6.57 percent), and Itel (4.41 percent) are engaged in a tight race for relevance. These brands have built their market positions through aggressive pricing, strong battery life, and wide distribution networks that reach beyond Ghana’s urban centers.
Samsung’s leadership remains rooted in its extensive model range and strong retail partnerships, while Apple maintains its allure through brand prestige and an integrated ecosystem. Yet TECNO’s performance proves that affordability and local insight can be just as powerful as global branding.
The analysis focuses on the top six identifiable brands and excludes the “Unknown” category, which accounts for 8.02 percent of the market. Other smaller players such as Xiaomi (2.27 percent), Motorola (1.18 percent), and Nokia (0.84 percent) make up the remainder, showing that Ghana’s smartphone landscape remains diverse and competitive.
With smartphone penetration surpassing 55 percent and mobile data usage expanding rapidly, Ghana’s smartphone market is still in motion. The coming years will likely see new entrants and shifting loyalties as brands continue to compete for the attention of a tech-savvy generation.
